Subject: Temporary Fuel Levy – Effective Wednesday, 1 April
Dear Valued Customer,
We are writing to advise that, effective Wednesday, 1 April, Harcher will introduce a Temporary Fuel Levy on all customer invoices.
This follows a rapid and significant increase in fuel costs across Western Australia, driven by global supply disruptions linked to the current Iranian conflict.
To provide context Terminal Gate Prices 2nd March-to-27th March (source:
Australian Institute of Petroleum):
• Petrol has increased from 157.0 cpl to 246.80 cpl → Increase: 89.8 cpl (+57.2%)
• Diesel has increased from 164.6 cpl to 309.70 cpl → Increase: 145.1 cpl (+88.1%)
While the Federal Government’s temporary fuel excise relief (26.4 cents per litre) provides some support, it only partially offsets the scale of these increases.
As a distribution business servicing both metropolitan and regional Western Australia, fuel is a critical input cost. The speed and magnitude of these increases have materially impacted our cost to serve.
Accordingly, a Temporary Fuel Levy will apply as follows:
• $3.00 per delivery (+ GST)
• Applied in addition to our existing Service & Handling charge
• Clearly itemised on all invoices
• Reviewed weekly and subject to adjustment (up or down) in line with fuel movements
• Removed once fuel prices stabilise at sustainable levels
We have absorbed as much of this impact as possible; however, current conditions require a temporary, transparent pass-through to maintain service consistency and reliability across our network.
We appreciate your understanding and continued partnership during this period.
Should you have any questions, please contact your Account/Territory Manager directly.
